Consider the perks of a distance learning education: keep working and getting paid, forget a class attendance schedule, and have the flexibility of studying whenever convenient. In fact, students striving for an online degree seem to have the best of both worlds.
However, amidst these perks, distance learning requires a lot of discipline and motivation from students. When we are juggling between a job and studies, it is very easy to lose track of our priorities and fail to keep up to mark. Moreover, distance learning students do not have the advantage of getting their learning drive renewed whenever they interact with lecturers or peers in classes.
Then, how can online students stay focused and overcome the challenges of learning from home? First, time management skills are essential. With only so many hours in the day, it is important to make time for work and family, and still have enough hours to adequately study the courses. Make a plan and stick to it. Let the family participate in your success. Let everyone know what your hours are dedicated to learning without interruption. Sit in a comfortable chair and add any necessary elements to ensure an environment conducive to productive study.
Distance learning education is an excellent way to improve job opportunities and acquire a desired degree. However, success depends on the individual. With hard work, determination and the discipline to stay on track and maintain good study habits, academic excellence is within sight, without relocating and sacrificing job and family.

I took French all through school and have found it very useful to have a second language that I can speak fairly fluently. So, when my own children reached school age, I’ve encouraged them to take a language too. They both chose Spanish. So, when we planned a family trip to France for last fall, I searched for a French language program that my husband and two children could take online to get a good basic understanding of the language. You do not want to delay the graduation only for the extra temporary income.
After that, check how you spend your spare time so far and how you will do it differently with a part time job. You will have to let go some fun time with friends. Forget about the suppleness to go out anytime when you are asked, now you must consider the extra hours of works and plan your rest and study time better. So evaluate your habits so far and check if you will be able to manage the schedule efficient and effectively.
